Can we end HIV/AIDS in our lifetime? In this short documentary, Black and Brown queer men discuss how HIV/AIDS has impacted their lives. With each pedal stroke, the Papis are amplifying BIPOC voices, fighting to eradicate HIV/AIDS stigma, and advocating for health equality for everyone.
Puro Pinche Papi (PPP), also known as “the Papis,” is a team of BIPOC gay and queer cyclists that participate in AIDS/LifeCycle (ALC). ALC is a seven-day 545-mile cycling event that raises funds for the treatment and prevention of HIV/AIDS that benefits the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center; the Papis have collectively raised nearly $500,000 towards the cause. Through their training rides and fundraising efforts, the Papis center and elevate BIPOC voices to educate how HIV/AIDS continues to disproportionately impact Black and Brown communities.
